Breakfast Club

Thorogate School Breakfast Club opens on school days at 8 am.

It is run by Mrs Horton, one of school's Higher Level Teaching Assistant and supported by other school staff as required. This ensures that the children are familiar with the staff and there is a smooth transition into school classes at 8:45.

Breakfast Club can be accessed on a daily basis or on an ad hoc basis, which ever suites your circumstances. Please enquire at the school office for the current Breakfast Club session charge.

School Day

The doors to the classrooms open at 8:45 am, with registers being taken at 8:55.

The usual structure of the day is:

9:00 - 10:00 Lesson time

10:00 - 10:15 Assembly

10:15 - 10:30 Play time

10:30 - 12:00 Lesson time

12:00 - 12:30 KS1 Dinner starts, also individual readers. KS2 Guided reading.

12:30 - 13:15 Dinner time

13:15 - 3:00 Lesson time

3:00 - 3:20 Class reading time

Information to parents

At the start of each term parents are provided with a summary of the learning that will take place that term. This will include information on how parents can support their children at home.

During the year parents are always able to speak to teachers, either with or without appointments. There are two formal 'parent conferences'' and an additional meeting can be arranged to discuss pupil school reports if required.
