We all know that good attendance at school will have a positive impact and that poor attendance can have the opposite. Fortuntuneatly, we are generally pleased with our school community, as attendance is predominantly good. Thank you.
We are also aware that at times illness can impact attendance. This year we have a few children who are now classed as "persistently absent" because of this - but we know the children and we trust the parents. Assuming they do not have a term-time holiday, we will watch their attendance improve as the year goes on.
We do have a few children who are persistently late for school - and this impacts negatively on the children and the remainder of the class. Being late may disrupt lessons, affect achievement and embarrass or upset your child.
Please ensure that you bring your children to school on time.
Well done to all the children who have been nominated for a Headteacher Award or shared Good Work with us today.

We are proud to announce that Thorogate has been granted Equal Access for Girls Football in school. The award has been granted as we offer equal access to girls football in school, within the school curriculum, after school and through inter school events. It's been so pleasing over the past few years to see a huge increase in the amount of girls at Thorogate who love football. We now have numerous girls that play for a grassroots club and we enter every festival / tournament possible to ensure children are given the opportunity to experience matches against other schools.
Next Tuesday alone, we will be taking 12 Y3 girls to a fun filled football festival at Wath Academy in the morning and then our Y5/6 girls team will be attending the Don and Dearne Girls Cup qualifying tournament at Mexborough in the afternoon.
If you're interested in finding a club for your daughter, please let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.
Mr Bedford
Whilst the children that attend Thorogate School are not teenagers, they soon will be and they may have older siblings! We have been sent the document below with questions for parents to consider.
