Travel Award - walk to school

Friday 14th June 2019 parents, pupils and staff from Thorogate School walked to school together from Rosehill Park

On a wet Friday it was amazing to see so many parents, pupils and staff supporting the Travel Plan programme to encourage people to come to school by walking, cycling, scootering etc. Today we even had a pupil join us in a wheel chair! The amount of people joining in just showed the commitment by many to seek alternatives to using a car to come to school, even if it means taking the car part of the way and walking the remainder. It can be done even on wet rainy days!

At Thorogate School we consider ourselves to be an active school, giving PE a higher priority in school and attending as many sporting events as we are able to. Play times are active, with pupils having access our MUGA, tyre park, climbing frame and weather permitting, our field.

Please try to walk to school if possible. If you must bring your car, please park well away from school and walk the last section. We always encourage the use of the 'Lollipop' lady to cross the road.
